Our tea estate spans 1.4 hectares. With an abundance of rich soil, we cultivate the best Qing Xin Oolong tea trees in our plantations. Since soil is an important element in cultivating good tea, we manage our soil in a holistic way. We do not loosen the soil by machines, instead we let the massive amount of earthworms to do the soil loosening. We only harvest from tender leaves. The roots of the tea trees grow deeply, so in this way the young shoot gets all the nutrients and is ensured of its fragrance.
Depending on its growing and maturity stage of the tea trees, Snow Mist’s organic tea leaves are harvested about six times a year. Here is a simple comparison:
A traditional farm would yield 1000kg of tea per hectare of land yearly. An organic farm that uses fertilizer would yield 500kg, but
Snow Mist’s organic sustainable farming technique means we harvest only 120kg of tea per hectare per year.
Since our tea trees are organically grown, the habitat’s dry leaves are used as compost. The tea trees have high mineral content and full of health-giving properties. The unique natural fragrance present in the tea leaves surpasses tea leaves that are harvested in plantations that use fertilizer.
With a team of dedicated tea workers, the tea leaves are picked with its stem and foliage fully intact. Only about 180kg of tea leaves are harvested annually.
Our tea leaves are thick and healthy thus giving several re-brew /re-fill counts, about 10 times per measure/lot of similar tea leaves.
